Introduction to Criminal law Criminal law is that branch of law which deals with acts of public wrongs offenses. It is further divided into two subcategories. Substantive law Law of procedure Substantive law deals with the actual crimes. It looks into different aspects of the offenses and the commitment of the offender toward crime. It also looks into the degree of crime. Substantive law also looks into whether the offenses are punishable. Substantive law considers all the necessary points which defenses may present in court by the accused person. Last but not the least the substantive law deals with the legal documentation of a case. Law of procedure Criminal procedure, on the other hand, is related to the process of prosecution. Criminal procedure describes all the matters from the commitment of crime to the verdict of the court.
